The 2017 DC Youth Poet Laureate: New Videos
It was an honor to put together these two shorts for local DC hip hop non-profit Words, Beats, Life. The videos are part of the organization's 2017 DC Youth Poet Laureate program. This year's winner is Kenny Carroll of Wilson High School.
Special thanks to Itzel for help on the shoot, and to Kosi at WBL for coordinating all the logistics. I've included some behind-the-scenes photos of the film shoot with Kenny at the bottom of the blog post.
This is the poem video.
Mini-doc potrait of Kenny.
Upcoming Screening at American University
Fly By Light, a feature doc I edited, will be screening in Washington DC at American University as part of their 2016 Human Rights Film Series.
The screening will be Wednesday October 19 at 7pm, and will include a Q&A with the directors and producers.
Photo Selected for a DC Exhibition
Pleased to announce that one of my photographs was selected for RecreativeSpaces "Where We Wanna Be" DC photography exhibit at Potter's House Cafe in Columbia Heights, DC. The photo is from a series I did many years ago. This one specifically is of the one and only Flex Mathews, a DC legend. A special thank you to Flex for participating in that photo shoot.
